Buses will depart from Kefalos Theatre at 19:00 hrs, to arrive at the beautiful village of Kourkoumelata, one of
the best preserved traditional communities.
With the full support of Vergottis Foundation, we will enjoy a unique piano performance by the talented Greek
pianist Constantinos Vallianatos. We will also have the opportunity to sip local drinks accompanied by light
snacks, in this charming place. Don't miss this friendly gathering, and the opportunity to relax from the
otherwise heavy program of our meeting!

Vergotis Foundation
George R. Vergottis (1893-1965) born in Kefalonia, Greece, although spending most of his life far
from Greece, never ceased helping his country and especially his native island Cephallonia. After the devastation
caused by the 1953 Earthquakes, he rebuilt all the houses of his village, offered free water and electric power.
He built Schools, Churches, and assisted all in need.
The Athens Academy awarded him the Academy's Gold Medal for (His distinguished and manifold activities especially
in Cephallonia, constituting a rare example of generosity and humanity deserving the special distinction of being
named a National Benefactor.
His wife MARIE G. VERGOTTIS (1914 - 1999) after his death founded the GEORGE AND MARIE VERGOTTIS FOUNDATION in
Cephallonia, Greece, the purpose of the Foundation being to give Scholarships to gifted students but also, to
sponsor the study and promotion of subjects related to Cephallonia and all other Ionian Islands. Lectures,
performances, concerts and exhibitions take place in the beautiful classic building named "THE CULTURAL CENTER"
built in the Kourkoumelata village by the late George Vergottis.
Constantinos Vallianatos was born 1990 in Athens, Greece. He started studying piano at seven
in the National Conservatory of Greece and graduated at the age of fourteen obtaining First Prize and Distinction
of Exceptional Talent (class of Agatha Leimoni). He continued his studies in Paris in the "Ecole Normale de Musique
de Paris" (class of Germaine Mounier) and obtained the Diplome Superieur d' Enseignement and Diplome Superieur
d' Execution.
He has been awarded eleven First Prizes, six of which in International Piano Competitions. He obtained the "GINA
BACHAUER" and "Yamaha" scholarships. He has also been awarded prizes by the Athens Academy and the President of
the Greek Republic for his "moral principles and talent." He has given recitals , Chamber Music concerts, and his
collaboration as a soloist with Orchestras brought him excellent critiques. He took part in the 2003 Salonica Music
Megaron for the opening of the film "the Pianist." He took part in the 22nd Chopin Festival and gave a recital in
the CORTOT Hall in Paris. In 2006, he interpreted the Haydn Concert in D major and in 2007 in the Athens Megaron
of Music interpreted LISZT'S First Concert with the State Orchestra of Athens, conducted by Andreas Pylarinos. He
also studies informatics in the University of Piraeus.
