about abstracts preparation

Abstracts should be extended up to 1 A4 page in plain text. Tables and figures can not be included

Important: The e-mail, phone and fax number of the corresponding author should also be included.

about full manuscript preparation

The full paper submitted should be written according to the following guidelines:

1. The manuscript should be prepared using a page setup of A4 paper. The typing area should be 17x25cm, with upper and left margins equal to 2.5 and 2.0 cm respectively. The total length of the paper, including abstract, references, figures etc., must not exceed 8 pages

2. All text can be typed single spaced. Times (new roman or equivalent) fonts, size 12, should be used.

3. The first page should include the following:
  • The title of the paper in capital, bold letters (font size 15), centered and starting from the 5th single spaced line from the top of the typing area. Its entire length should not exceed 90 characters.
  • Names of the authors in small, bold letters (font size 13), centered and separated from the title by one line space.
  • Address of the authors in small letters (font size 12).
  • Abstract, up to 8 lines, headed by the word ABSTRACT, in capital, bold letters, separated from the addresses by a 3 line space.
4. Paragraphs should be flush with the left margin, and separated by one line space. Right justification of the text is desirable.

5. All headings should be flush with the left margin, and consecutively numbered. For main headings (which should be separated by one line space from text above and below) capital, bold characters should be used (e.g. 1. INTRODUCTION). For secondary headings (which should be separated by one line space from text above only) small, bold letters should be used, e.g. 3.1 Theoretical approach. Third grade heading, should be underlined, e.g. 3.2.1 Results of test 1.

6. Tables should be inserted in the text following their first reference, and as close to it as possible. They should be separated from text above and below by one line space. The word TABLE should be capitalized and followed by an Arabic numeral and a proper legend. Where a table exceeds one page, the column headings should be repeated.

7. All drawings and graphs should be preferably in black and white (colos are allowed if necessary for figures only). They should be sized to fit within the typing area, including any labeling, numbers or legend, and should remain legible, after a 20% reduction of the original size. Moreover, they should be inserted in the text following their first reference, and separated from text above and below by 1 line space. Captions should be centered and preceded by the word: Figure followed by a number in Arabic numerals.

8. Photographs should be good quality glossy black and white or color prints, not under or over-exposed, and not taken from previously printed material. They should be inserted in the text in the appropriate position. Captions should be centered and preceded by the word: Figure followed by a number in Arabic numerals.

9. References in the text should be numbered consecutively in square brackets. All references should then be listed in sequence, at the end of the text, under the title: REFERENCES. The style of the references is indicated in the following examples (for book, paper in journal and paper in conference proceedings, EPA report and website respectively).

  1. Tsobanoglous G., H. Theisen and R. Eliassen (1977) "Solid wastes: Engineering principles and management issues", McGraw-Hill.
  2. Latinopoulos P., N. Theodosiou, Y. Mylopoulos and N. Mylopoulos (1994) "A sensitivity analysis and parametric study for the evaluation of the optimal management of a contaminated aquifer" Water Resources Management, Vol. 8, pp. 11-31.
  3. Korfiatis G.P., M. Mohiuddin and D. Lekmine (1996) "Intrinsic remediation", Proc. Int. Conf. Protection and Restoration of the Environment III, (eds. E. Diamadopoulos and G. P. Korfiatis), Chania, Greece, 1996.

about oral presentation preparation
Oral presentation should last up to 20 minutes (including 3 minutes for discussion). Please keep your presentation within the pre specified time limits.

about poster presentation preparation

The posters presented in the Conference should be created according to the following guidelines:

Poster panel and attachment
  • The dimensions of the posters should not exceed 120 cm wide x 200 cm high.
  • Posters should be made of paper or thin cardboard. Heavy board materials may be difficult to keep in position on the panel.
  • Posters should be attached using pins.

Poster numbering
  • Your poster will be numbered, according to your paper code number. You will find the number of your poster in the Poster program that will be handed out at the Conference.
  • You have to attach your poster on the panel with your poster number. One panel will be provided for each poster.

Content and layout of your poster
  • Make sure that the content of your poster matches the information you submitted in your paper. It is what the delegates expect and is the reason they decide to come to your poster.
  • The amount of written text should be kept to a minimum by using keywords and phrases.
  • Clearly labeled graphs, diagrams, and pictures convey meaning more readily than closely printed text.
  • Keep the layout simple.
